Hurricane Season and more...

The image above shows Hurricane Ivan slamming into The Gulf Coast last year. Hurricane Season officially begins tomorrow, June 1st. The City Of Mobile was saved at the last moment when Ivan took a slight jog to east, bearing down on the Alabama/Florida State Line. The 6-months of the year that we are in Hurricane Season are always long ones for us Gulf Coast residents. But that's the price you must pay to live in "God's Country." Let's pray that it will be a safe, quiet season for us all.

Well... I had my dental apppointment this morning. It's been a pain filled 5-days. The swelling is almost completely gone. However, that will all end tomorrow as that sucker is coming out! I may or may not write tomorrow depending on how I feel.

I sincerely hope you all had a pleasant Memorial Day yesterday. Dianna and I did something we rarely do these days. We went over to an old childhood friend's house, and had a fine afternoon bar-b-que. Notwithstanding, my bad tooth, it was nice to get out like that for a change. We have got to do more of that, no doubt. It's interesting how being in the public eye like I have for so many years tends to alienate you from some of the people you really enjoy being around. It's only my fault, because I allowed it to happen.

We're going to see John Michael Montgomery this Friday night at one of the casinos in Biloxi. We've seen him before, but he's always been a good show.

Until next time!

Oh me... Oh my...

I realize that many of you have felt the way Alfalfa looks in this classic picture from "The Little Rascals." But's that is exactly how I am looking today. I had a pain in one of my teeth yesterday morning, as usual I let it go for a couple of hours. The next thing I knew it looked like I was hiding a softball in my left cheek. I called my dentist, and of course he was leaving for the day and becuase of Memorial Day weekend, would not be returning until Tuesday. So... they called in some antibiotics and pain medicine for me to hold me over. I just don't think I am going to make it like this for 5-days. I'll keep you posted.

Unfortunately, this is happening right in the middle of of some very good things that are going down regarding my future post July 10th. I can't release the details right now, but I know my true supporters out there will be as happy and as excited as I am about them.

I have been planning on attending a local independent show this evening featuring my cousin "Marvelous" Marcel Pringle against Adrian Street, and a good lineup with Brian Armstrong in the main event. I sure hope I can make it, as I haven't been to an indy event in the area in quite sometime.

Hang in there friends, it's finally Friday!

Happy Birthday Gracie and more...

Our Granddaughter Grace Elizabeth turns 10-months old today. Ain't she beautiful? Looks just like her Grandpa Percy. Heehee...
Well, you all know by now that my pick for the winner of American Idol was definitely wrong. It's always good to see a fellow Alabamian make it to the top anyway. Bo Bice did a fine job.
I'm making it a short post today. All quiet on the southern front.
God Bless you all!

Percy's American Idol Pick and more...

PERCY'S A.I. PICK

Of course I would feel like a traitor if I didn't favor Alabama's Bo Bice in tonight's American Idol finale. I can't truly say that I have followed this season's contest all the way, but I have seen several of the shows primarily because Dianna likes watching it. Seriously, I enjoy it too, mainly the first few shows where the contestants are picked, and then the final 2 or 3 shows.

I appreciate all of the feedback from my latest article in the STORYTIME section of the website. Trust me, things are good these days and better days are ahead. I just thank The Good Lord for his blessings. Our spoiled Granddaughter Grace turns 10-months old on Thursday. She has something new for us every time we see her. Things are so different around The Moody Household these days. Aside from Gracie's visits now and then, it's just me, Dianna, and our three Dachshunds. For the first time in almost 26-years, we are without our own two sons in our home.

My old friend Dewey Robertson "The Missing Link," and I have renewed our friendship after many years. He has been busy with his book, and has sent me a manuscript that I have been reading. I believe that wrestling fans, and non-fans alike will enjoy his personal story. He has even asked me to write the "forward" to it.

Summer has hit with a vegeance, as it was nearly 100 degrees yesterday. Last night it was 82 degrees at 10 pm. Mercy... just think hurricane season begins in one week.

Have a good one!

Gallbladder Surgery One Year Ago Today

I have posted an exclusive story that I have never told before on my website today, concerning the one year anniversary of my gallbladder surgery. You may find it interesting to note what a relationship this surgery actually played in Paul Bearer being buried in concrete at last June's Great American Bash.
The story can be found by clicking on the STORYTIME section on the splash page of PP.Com, or simply clicking on this link:

THE REAL REASON PAUL BEARER WAS BURIED IN CONCRETE!

I have never publically displayed this photo before. Here I am at my highest weight before my gastric bypass surgery, truly a "deadman walking." Compare this with the photo below of me with the legendary Destroyer at last month's Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion. Miracles do happen!

Thanks for your time, and take care my friends.

Remembering Owen...

Owen died on this date in 1999. It doesn't seem possible that it's been 6-years. I would like to remember Owen with the words that I spoke on The WWF show that was dedicated to his memory shortly after his passing:
He will not grow old, like we who are left grow old.
Age will not weary him, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
we will remember him.

God Bless.

Gulf Coast Gas Prices Below $2.00

Of course the photo above is a joke. It's true that gas finally dropped below the $2.00 mark at my favorite station yesterday evening, to $1.99. I understand that there are some stations in the area with $1.93 fuel to be had. It doesn't seem so long ago that I thought $1.25 was high. Amazing isn't it?

Still quiet around here, just hot and humid as hell. There's a couple of independent shows in the area coming up in the next couple weeks. I haven't been to an indy in quite sometime, I always enjoy stopping in just to see what's happening with the future of our business.

Take care, my friends!

Davey Boy Died In 2002 - My ACM Predictions

My friend and "brother" Davey Boy Smith died on this day in 2002.

Once again The Academy Of Country Music put on a fine show last evening. Out of the 11 categories, 5 of my predictions were correct. If you missed it, here's the results:

VIDEO OF THE YEAR
Whiskey Lullaby

SINGLE OF THE YEAR
Tim McGraw

ALBUM OF THE YEAR
Keith Urban

SONG OF THE YEAR
Tim McGraw

VOCAL EVENT OF THE YEAR
Whiskey Lullaby

NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR
Gretchen Wilson

VOCAL GROUP OF THE YEAR
Rascal Flatts

VOCAL DUO OF THE YEAR
Brooks and Dunn

FEMALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR
Gretchen Wilson

MALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR
Keith Urban

ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR
Kenny Chesney

The biggest surprise for me was Gretchen Wilson taking both New Artist and Female Artist of the year. In my humble opinion, she certainly deserved New Artist as she was my pick; however Female Artist Of The Year may be a bit too much too soon.

I don't know about Keith Urban either, maybe I haven't paid much attention to his work. I was surprised, but obviously somebody likes him. I must be too old school, but mine is not to reason why. I must go out and pick up his album, and give him a fair shake.

The ACM did the right thing with Kenny Chesney, as I picked him as my favorite for Entertainer Of The Year in my BLOG back on April 29th after seeing him in concert. It was also great seeing Garth Brooks again, I think it's come back time.

Not only do I remember Davey Boy today. On this day in 2002, Dianna received her first radiation treatment during her battle with breast cancer. Also on this day in 1899, my maternal Grandmother was born.

I was able to speak to both Hebner brothers on the telephone yesterday, and give them my birthday sentiments that I expressed in yesterday's BLOG. I can't say too much about what a class act these guys are.

Have a fine Wednesday!

Before I close for today, my wishes go out to two of the finest gentlemen I have ever met in professional wrestling. Today is David and Earl Hebner's birthday. Of course, Dave and Earl are still with WWE. David as a road agent, and Earl as Senior Referee. I love these guys like brothers.

Take care!

Take Me Out To The Ballgame...

Mobile's Hank Aaron Stadium, home of The Mobile Baybears, an affiliate of The San Diego Padres.

I'm headed out to a baseball game tonight, for the first time this season. I used to go quite often, I don't know what happened. We are fortunate to have one of the farm teams of The San Diego Padres here, and one of the finest minor league stadiums in the country. You can read more about our team by clicking on:
www.mobilebaybears.com

Thank The Good Lord I have a connection with the stadium, as it is the hottest day we've had this year. It's right at 90 degrees right now. If I'm lucky, we'll end up in The Stadium Club, close to air conditioning and Mr. Jack Daniels. What a whimp I've turned into in my old age. For more info on our lovely weather around here, you can click on the banner below my signature.

This warm weather has really made my morning exercise routine a sweaty one. But... I'm proud of myself, I'm still hanging in there.

Our granddaughter Grace started crawling on Mother's Day. She'll be walking before we know it. We went to church with her Mother's Day morning, and I had the privilege of carrying her in my arms to communion. Dianna says that I looked like Vince McMahon struting down the ramp to the ring with Gracie in my arms. LOL

Our thoughts and prayers are with my dear friend Captain Lou Albano, who suffered a heart attack earlier this week.

Take care, my friends.

Happy Birthday To My Dianna!

Today is my wife Dianna's 44th birthday. Bless her heart, she'll have a fit when she sees this picture. We've been married 26-years now. She's always been satisfied to stand in the shadows so I could shine. For that, she deserves sainthood.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

I had orignally planned on a mushy, Mother's Day tribute here today. But after some thought, I am confident that the Mothers in my life know exactly how I feel about them. So I changed my mind and opted for a more light-hearted BLOG on this special day dedicated to Mother's around the world. I wish you all a very fine day!

Hilarious Words of Motherly Wisdom:

PAUL REVERE'S MOTHER

"I don't care where you think you have to go, young man. Midnight is past your curfew!"
MONA LISA'S MOTHER

"After all that money your father and I spent on braces, Mona, that's the biggest smile you can give us?"
HUMPTY DUMPTY'S MOTHER

"Humpty, If I've told you once, I've told you a hundred times not to sit on that wall. But would you listen to me? Noooo!"
COLUMBUS' MOTHER

"I don't care what you've discovered, Christopher. You still could have written!"
MICHELANGELO'S MOTHER

"Mike, can't you paint on walls like other children?Do you have any idea how hard it is to get that stuff off the ceiling?"
NAPOLEON'S MOTHER

"All right, Napoleon. If you aren't hiding your report card inside your jacket, then take your hand out of there and prove it!"
CUSTER'S MOTHER

"Now, George, remember what I told you -- don't go biting off more than you can chew!"
ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S MOTHER

"Again with the stove pipe hat, Abe? Can't you just wear a baseball cap like the other kids?"
BARNEY'S MOTHER

"I realize strained plums are your favorite, Barney, but you're starting to look a little purple."
BATMAN'S MOTHER

"It's a nice car, Bruce, but do you realize how much the insurance is going to be?"
GOLDILOCKS' MOTHER

"I've got a bill here for a busted chair from the Bear family. You know anything about this, Goldie?"
LITTLE MISS MUFFET'S MOTHER

"Well, all I've got to say is if you don't get off your tuffet and start cleaning your room, there'll be a lot more spiders around here!"
ALBERT EINSTEIN'S MOTHER

"But, Albert, it's your senior picture. Can't you do something about your hair? Styling gel, mousse, something...?"
GEORGE WASHINGTON'S MOTHER

"The next time I catch you throwing money across the Potomac, you can kiss your allowance good-bye!"
JONAH'S MOTHER

"That's a nice story, but now tell me where you've really been for the last three days."
SUPERMAN'S MOTHER

"Clark, your father and I have discussed it, and we've decided you can have your own telephone line. Now will you quit spending so much time in all those phone booths?"
THOMAS EDISON'S MOTHER

"Of course I'm proud that you invented the electric light bulb, Thomas. Now turn off that light and get to bed!"

God Bless.

Yes... I'm Still Alive!

After receiving several emails asking if I was still alive, I figured I had better make a BLOG entry today. From the get-go I made it clear that I wouldn't write here everyday. It makes no sense for me to waste your time and mine, when I have nothing to say. To me, the old saying "No news, is good news" works well.

I drove to New Orleans Tuesday evening and stayed over, preparing for a business meeting that I had scheduled for Wednesday morning. It was an important meeting for me, and no, it had nothing to do with professional wrestling. I thought that instead of making the 130-mile trip early Wednesday, fighting the traffic, that I should take my time and relax, and be fresh for business. Things went well, and I had a casual trip home Wednesday afternoon. I even stopped and picked up some "quick picks" for the Louisiana PowerBall Lottery, that was up to $72 million. Unfortunately, I'm still not a millionaire. Heehee...

I'm looking forward to a beautiful weekend, as we celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday. Plus, Dianna's birthday is on Tuesday the 10th. She usually gets the bad end on gifts because her birthday and Mother's Day always fall within days of each other. Bless her heart.

There are a couple of independent wrestling events in the area this weekend. I'm going to do my best to stop in and say "howdy" if I can. Indy wrestling in the Mobile area has really taken a nose dive the past 2 or 3 months. There used to be two groups that ran every week. Things have certainly changed.

I wish you all a fine weekend, and I am planning a special Mother's Day update here, if the creek don't rise and The Good Lord willing.

Take care, my friends.

Plowboy hitting the bottle again...

Here's an exclusive photo from The CAC banquet, as our Webmaster "Plowboy Otis" Kurt Nielsen rides a cow through the casino area of The Riviera.

I guess you folks have seen the new splash page "Plowboy" has designed for the website. I'm sure you have, because you had to pass by it to get here. CLASSIC Plowboy, to say the least. Believe me, he's the one who keeps things fun around this place. What a talented gentleman and friend he is!
Thanks Kurt!

Have a fine Monday, my friends.

Sunday Morning Coming Down...

What a nasty day we had yesterday along The Gulf Coast. Depending upon what area of the county you lived in, between 4 and 7 inches of rain drowned Sweet Home Alabama. Needless to say, I didn't get my walk in; and I decided to pass up my treadmill because it seems to bother my old knees more than walking at our local park's fitness track. Dianna was a bit under the weather too, so I spent a major part of the day sitting in my chair with my three dachshunds in my lap, finishing Terry Funk's new book. Terry's book is an excellent read, and I highly recommend it. I also had several interesting telephone conversations with a few friends, that I haven't spoken to in a while.

So... with a one day bout of cabin fever under my belt, I was up at the crack of dawn and headed out for my walk. I am up to 3-miles every morning now, by the way. Just think, a year and a half ago I couldn't walk down the driveway to get the mail or my newspaper. The Lord works in mysterious ways, and yes prayer does work. Many folks think that if they dont't get immediate results, that their prayers were not answered. Think about it, maybe they were answered, and the response was "no."

I'll reiterate what I have said here many times before. My website and BLOG are here exclusively for those of you that have supported me through the years. I consider my BLOG to be my personal letter to my fans and friends. For your critics out there, you are reading someone else's mail.

I have been a creature of habit virtually all of my life. When I find something that works, it's hard for me to change. Take for example something as simple as my morning walks. When I go to the fitness track, I always walk in the same direction. One lap around the track is equal to one mile, and I have never even thought about turning and going in the opposite direction. Well... this morning I did.

You see, I've been walking around this track for a couple of months now. Today, I saw an entirely new view. Scenery that I have never seen before. I guess it's good to change directions now and then. How apropos this line of thinking is for me at this particular time in my life. My tenure with World Wrestling Entertainment ends on July 10th. It's been a succesful 13+ year realtionship for me, to say the least. I turned 51-years old a few weeks ago, and it is time for a new direction in my life. Country music star Kenny Chesney sings, "I've Been There. That's Why I'm Here." That pretty much sums it it for me. I am here, because I've been there.

I appreciate the countless emails from those wanting to book me for personal appearances, etc. However, I am not making any commitments at this time. I have laid my life at the foot of the cross. I am confident that The Lord will lead me in the right direction. The next couple of months will be very interesting for me. Thanks again for all of the kind words and prayers.

You folks are indeed the best!
