A Good Weekend To You My Friends

Grand-daughter Grace finished the school season this week, and got a trophy from her soccer team. She is proud as a peacock, but not as proud as her Grandpa is of her. Gracie will turn 5 years old in July.

Lightening played havoc with my business last weekend, from which I still have not fully recovered. It's been a long week.

So far it's a beautiful Saturday morning here on the Gulf of Mexico. Doing a lot of work around the house. I have an appointment to get my hair cut at noon, something that is way over due.

A friend sent me a link to an old clip from Florida in 1985. Here's the link, I think you will enjoy it.

A little whine with my wine...

Good morning my friends... believe it or not this is my 560th BLOG post, and I was the one going to close this down 60 posts ago.

For those of you that know me well, I think you will enjoy this little story, in fact if you don't know me personally you will probably get a kick out of this too.

I don't partake of too much alcohol these days, when I do it is usually my old friend Jack Daniels. For some odd reason, I have been wanting to give wine a try recently. I have never drank wine except for communion at church, so I don't know where this hankering is coming from. Anywhoo...

I ordered some chinese take-out Monday night after leaving a visit at my parents house and drove over to pick it up. Going into the restaurant I saw the little liquor store next door and it's sign "WINE" in the window. So... I went in.

The girl (woman) behind the counter recognized Paul Bearer as soon as he walked in and wanted to talk 'rasslin. I answered her questions, then she answered my wine questions. She made a suggestion to me, I paid for it and went on my merry way, and promised to let her know what I thought of it. I got my chinese and went home to my three sausage dogs to watch RAW and stuff my face with rice. For whatever reason, I didn't try the wine that night.

So... last night, I decided to try some while watching American Idol. Stupid me finally got the wrapper off of the top of the bottle and discovered that I needed a corkscrew to open the damn thing. I even tried a knife, to no avail. To hell with it... I put it back in the the refrigerator until I can go to store and pick up the proper tools so I can try the stuff. LOL

I guess you just had to be there. I knew I should have called my wine expert friend "Plowboy" Kurt Nielsen for advice (who by the way is my PP3.com webmaster).

Stay tuned and I will let you know if I ever get try try some wine, so I can quit whining about it. LOL

Be Blessed and have a great Wednesday.

The end to a long day...

Good evening my friends, as I wrote in my BLOG this mother's day morning, I was at Dianna's grave at dawn this morning. At dusk this evening, I found myself there again.

I filled the time in between with two trips into work, and lunch with my family at my mothers home. It was a good day.

Tonight I sat quietly with Dianna as the sun went down. I took the three balloons that I had left there this morning and released them one by one, watching each get caught into the darkening gulf coast air and drift upwards until they were out of sight.

As I was preparing to leave, I found myself in such a relaxed and peaceful state of mind. A feeling that I have never experienced during the past 14-weeks. I could almost hear Dianne telling me what she expected me to do and how I should carry on.

I knew that she was telling me to care better care of myself. It is time to quit moping around and feeling sorry for myself. It's time to sieze each day, and enjoy what life has to offer, good or bad. Sound easy, doesn't it?

The icing on the cake was when I got back into the car. As soon as turned the ignition the song below came on (I sware it's true) and I couldn't help but laugh and sing along with it as I left the cemetery. It was always one of my favorites, and a possible message from Dianna.

Have a great week and be blessed!

Happy Birthday and Mother's Day...

I would like to take a moment to remember my deceased wife Dianna on what would have been her 48th Birthday. Dianna passed away 14-weeks ago yesterday. I was visiting her gravesite early this morning while the dew was still on the ground, decorating with new flowers and some balloons. I plan on returning at dusk this evening and release the balloons into the heavens.

Of course this is also Mother's Day and Jimmy Dean's classic is as good today as the day it was written so many years ago. I wish my own mother, two daughters-in-law, sister, niece, sister-in-law, and all of the mothers in my life a very blessed day.
