RAW 15th ANNIVERSARY - 17th ANNUAL GC WRESTLERS REUNION

Many of you are aware that this coming Monday, December 10, 2007 at 7pm (CT) on USA, will be the 3-hour 15th Anniversary of MONDAY NIGHT RAW. To settle some suspicions, I was contacted by WWE officials last week requesting that I be a part of the broadcast. As much as I would like to do so, my current schedule completely prohibits it. :-(

I don't have any idea how many episodes of the program I appeared on. I just know that I was very blessed to be a part of the great organization.

WWF Monday Night RAW, first aired on January 11, 1993 on the USA Network for one hour. The original RAW broke new ground in televised professional wrestling. Traditionally, wrestling shows were taped on sound stages with small audiences or at large arena shows. The RAW formula was very different than that of its predecessor, Prime Time Wrestling. Instead of taped matches, with studio voice overs and taped chat, RAW was a show shot to a live audience, with angles as they happened.

The first episode featured Yokozuna defeating Koko B. Ware, The Steiner Brothers defeating The Executioners, WWF Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels defeating Max Moon and The Undertaker defeating Damien Demento. The show also featured an interview with Razor Ramon.

RAW originated from the Grand Ballroom at Manhattan Center Studios, a small New York City theater and aired live each week. The combination of an intimate venue and live action proved highly successful. However, the weekly live schedule proved to be a financial drain on the WWF, and taped shows began airing every other week. From early 1994 to September 1999, RAW was shown live on one Monday and then the next day (Tuesday) next Monday's RAW was taped. This meant that RAW was live one week and taped the next.

RAW is returning to my hometown of Mobile on January 14th in the new year. As always I am looking forward to being there with my extended family.

I congratulate the McMahon Family, and the entire staff of WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT. I sincerely wish you 150 more years of RAW success!

A few weeks ago I wrote of the upcoming 17th Annual GULF COAST WRESTLERS REUNION. I am on the board of directors of the organization, and responsible for getting the word out to independent talent, especially those who have never attended. I promise you, that if you come one time, you will be back. The gathering this year will be on March 7th and 8th.

It is open ONLY to those currently active or retired from our industry. It IS NOT a fanfest, and everyone will be screened at the door. You DO NOT have to live in the Gulf Coast area to attend. We have legends that come in every year from all over the country. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me with them at:

I have been doing my best to pass out applications, but it is impossible to reach everyone. Especially those away from the Gulf Coast area. You can easily download one right here, but you must have ADOBE ACROBAT to receive it. That is easy enough, just click on the link and follow the yellow brick road.

Then click on the link below to get your application. Fill it out, mail it in along with the cash, and we will see you there!

Looking Back At 1991 - Tuesday In Texas

On this date in 1991, The WWF held its TUESDAY IN TEXAS pay-per-view at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas. The WWF Champion, My Undertaker, was pinned by Hulk Hogan, after the man in red and yellow threw ashes from my urn into Undertaker's eyes. I will never tell what the ashes were. LOL

WWF President Jack Tunney made an announcement, which aired on the December 7 edition of WWF Superstars, that the title was vacated and would go to the winner of the following month's Royal Rumble match, due to two disputed finishes.

Other matches on the live Pay-per-view saw Randy Savage pin Jake Roberts. Following the match, Roberts beat down Savage, then forced Miss Elizabeth to beg him to stop the beating. When apparently dissatisfied with her, Roberts grabbed her by the hair and slapped her across her face. Also, Davey Boy Smith pinned The Warlord. Ted DiBiase and Repo Man defeated Tito Santana and Virgil when DiBiase pinned Virgil.

In dark matches: The Harris Brothers (Ron and Don Harris) defeated Brian Donahue and Brian Costello. Sir Charles (The Godfather) pinned Dale (Dusty) Wolfe. Chris Walker pinned Brian Lee (The UnderFaker). Chris Chavis (Tatanka) pinned J.W. Storm (WCW's Maxx Muscle). Ric Flair pinned Roddy Piper.

I survived... on to tonight... a phone call...

From my mailbox this morning, comes a photo taken last evening by a fan with a cell phone camera. It's myself, my son Daniel "D.J.", and cousin "Marvelous" Marcel Pringle right after our match in Brewton, Alabama. Even though I cost my team the victory, just the fact that I was able to walk back to the dressing room under my own power, was good enough for me. Seriously, we had a fantastic time. It was the first time, and probably the last time you will see me stepping into the ring as a "wrestler." I am proud of my achievements as a manager, but my wrestling abilities have always been questionable since day one.
This evening at 7pm, I will be in D.J.'s corner as a MANAGER (LOL) at The American Legion Post in Pensacola, Florida. The promotion is having a fine TOYS FOR TOTS special that will benefit not only the fans but the kids who are in need this holiday season. Come out and see us!

I received an interesting telephone call from WWE this week, and I will share the details with you in a day or two.

Have a great weekend and as always...

Be Blessed.

PP3 RETURNS TO THE RING

Yep... that's what I said too!
That's right, Friday night December 30th, I will step into the ring as a "wrestler" for the first time since 1999. I will be in a six-man tag-team fracas with my son "D.J." and cousin "Marvelous" Marcel Pringle. We will be in Brewton, Alabama at The National Guard Armory, belltime is at 7pm.

The last time I "wrestled" was on May 10, 1999 on MONDAY NIGHT RAW against The Big Show. This particular edition of RAW scored the highest rating in the history of the program up to that time. I am certainly not saying that I had anything to do with the rating, it is just a note of trivia. The rating was an 8.1. That was beat a few months later on September 27, 1999 when Mick Foley did the "This is your life Rock," and scored a 8.4 rating. Those ratings have never been matched since. To put things in perspective, this past Monday night had a 3.5 rating.

If you live in the Brewton area, I look forward to seeing you there. If I live... I will be in Pensacola, Florida on Saturday night at the American Legion Hall.

16 years ago tonight...

On this very night in 1991, at The Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan, I was at The Undertaker's side during The Survivor Series when he beat Hulk Hogan for The World Wrestling Federation Championship. To say that it was one of the many highlights of my career would be an understatement. Courtesy of YOUTUBE, here is one of the promos that lead up to the event.

Friday & Saturday Fight Nights... Another WCCW Death

An old friend of mine, "Angel of Death" Dave Sheldon, passed away this past weekend at his home in Bedford, TX. No other details are available. Sheldon worked for many North American territories during the 1980s and early 1990s including Stampede Wrestling, World Class Championship Wrestling, and Bill Watts's Universal Wrestling Federation as the bodyguard of The Freebirds. Sheldon was also part of the California-based Powerteam USA group, which included Sting, "Ultimate Warrior" Jim Hellwig and Mark Miller. he first started wrestling with Stampede Wrestling with Owen Hart, Brian Pillman, and Chris Benoit. Dave was always a gentleman and a class act. May he rest in the peaceful arms of Our Saving Lord.
The Pringle's are running wild both Friday and Saturday nights this week. Friday night we will be at The National Guard Armory in Brewton, Alabama. FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER myself, my son "D.J.," and cousin "Marvelous" Marcel Pringle will participate in a 6-man tag-team match! You read it right! I will be wrestling for the first time since 1999. It could very well be my last time too! LOL
Then on Saturday evening, I will be in D.J.'s corner at The American Legion Post in Pensacola, Florida. These will be two great independent events, and if you live in the area I am certain you will enjoy them both.
Be Blessed.

Game? What Game??? A SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY

A game last night? Hmmmm.... dang if I remember one. LOL
Be that as it may, the Moody house was rocking last night as a number of close friends gathered to see our beloved CRIMSON TIDE fall to Auburn University for the sixth straight year.
Oh well... there's always next year.
On this day four years ago in 2003 I had my gastric bypass surgery. When I was rolled into the operating room I weighed 525 pounds. Simply an amazing miracle. Seriously, like many anniversaries and remembrances that I bring up here on my BLOG, my surgery seems like it has been 20 years ago. The photo below was when I was at my heaviest. Without that surgery, there is absolutely no doubt that my name would be on the long list of our departed brothers and sisters from the wrestling industry. I have been truly blessed.

I have gained back a few pounds, but things are good. The photo above is one of the most recent pictures of me, red faced from screaming during a promo while managing my son "D.J." in a recent local independent event.
Be Blessed.

THE 2007 IRON BOWL
Today is the day that CRIMSON TIDE fans wait for every year! No matter what we may have accomplished (or not accomplished) during the past 11 games, it all boils down to this one game for us. I've learned from past experience to keep my mouth shut on predicting the finish on this one... so that is exactly what I will do. Kickoff will be at 7pm (CT) tonight on ESPN. We shall see what we shall see!

BAMA SHAMED... but there's always next week.

ASHAMED...
That Alabama couldn't hold an early 7-0 lead over Louisiana-Monroe Saturday, turning the ball over four times in a 21-14 loss to the Warhawks at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The loss drops Alabama's record to 6-5 (4-3 SEC).
BUT.......
All will be forgiven next week when Alabama travel's to Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn on Saturday, Nov. 24, to face the Tigers (6-4). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CT) and will be televised on ESPN.

We can only pray...
Be Blessed.

GULF COAST WRESTLERS REUNION

The Board of Directors of the GULF COAST WRESTLERS REUNION, of which I am a proud member, will have it's first board meeting this weekend in preparation for our 17th annual get together. This exclusive event is held the first full weekend of every March and is open ONLY to those who are retired or currently active in our industry.

Three years ago we decided to endeavor to get new blood in our organization, namely allowing those on the independent scene to become members. We began THE HORIZON AWARD, which is voted on by those members who participate in indy professional wrestling only. The first year Ethan Emmerson (Aeon Flexx) was voted as the first Horizon Award winner, last year Mark Thompson (John Saxon) was the winner and was presented by ring legend Danny Hodge. Who will be this year's nominee? You can only find out by being there!

Our 2008 Reunion will be held on March 7 - 8th, and it's time to get your applications in!
If you have Adobe Acrobat you may download and print your copy right here. Just click on this link:

Requiem For A Lady

WWE Hall of Famer and former Women's champion Lillian Ellison "The Fabulous Moolah" passed away in her sleep last night at her home in Columbia, SC. She was 84 years old. Moolah made her professional wrestling debut in 1949 and joined the then WWF in 1983 after Vince McMahon secured her services. Moolah came into the company already as the Women's Champion, bringing her title from the NWA and then lost it to Wendi Richter in 1984 in the main event of 'TheBrawl To End It All' which was aired live on MTV. Moolah went on to win the WWF Women's title a total of four times. In 1995 she was inducted into theWWE Hall Of Fame and appeared from time to time on WWE television along with Mae Young. Her last appearance on WWE TV was at SummerSlam during a backstage segment with McMahon and William Regal.
World Wrestling Entertainment released an official statement which can be located by clicking on this link:
http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/fabulousmoolahpasses

Miss Lillian was always a class act and a dear friend of mine. Somehow I always thought that she would always be here, because she has literally always been here. On second thought, she will indeed always be with us, as she has left a permanent impression on our industry that will never be erased. My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to her family, and longtime friends Johnnie Mae Young and Diamond Lil.

Be Blessed.
