GULF SOUTH BIRTHDAY

On this date in 2005 GULF SOUTH WRESTLING was born. GSW was one of the most successful independent promotions in the southeast, only to be closed two years later due to personal business decisions.

Be Blessed.

Week of August 11th...

A good Sunday evening to you my friends-
This is one of those weeks that marks the passing of several of my dear friends. The first part of my week is already spoken for, and I am afraid if I don't post tonight I may not have the time the rest of the week.

Tomorrow, Monday, August 11th, marks the first anniversary of the death of Bronko Lubich. Few knew his real name of 'Sandor Lupsity,' as the wrestling world called him Bronko. I became close friends with "Bronk" during my 6-years in Dallas. He was so proud of me when I was called to WWF/WWE. I miss him dearly.

Wednesday the 13th, will also be the first anniversary of the passing of Bryan Adams "Crush." Bryan was one fine gentleman in and out of the ring. My nickname for him was "pineapple' remembering his hawaiian roots. He was The Undertaker's best friend, because of that relationship I knew him well. Another that left us far too soon.

Saturday the 16th, will not only mark the day Elvis Presley died, it is also the day we lost "The Missing Link" Dewey Robertson. Yes indeed, it was a sad week last year, losing three friends within 6-days. We will never forget...
Before I forget, for my fellow Possum Fans, George Jones will be in my home area on October 19th, at The Imperial Palace Casino in Biloxi, MS at 9:00 pm. Save the date!

Some 30 years after he earned a country hit as the songwriter of George Jones’ "Bartender’s Blues," James Taylor is showing a continued affinity for the Possum by remaking George’s very first charted single, "Why Baby Why," for an upcoming album called "Covers." James' new album is being released on Sept. 30.

Possum George, has his own album on the way. Burn Your Playhouse Down: the unreleased duets comes out Aug. 19, loaded with guest performances. According to GEORGEJONES.com the tracks look like this:

1. YOU AND ME AND TIME with GEORGETTE JONES (Possum's Daughter)
2. THE WINDOW UP ABOVE with LEON RUSSELL
3. SHE ONCE LIVED HERE with RICKY SKAGGS
4. ROCKIN' YEARS with DOLLY PARTON
5. BURN YOUR PLAYHOUSE DOWN with KEITH RICHARDS
6. SELFISHNESS IN MAN with VINCE GILL
7. TAVERN CHOIR with JIM LAUDERDALE
8. I ALWAYS GET IT RIGHT WITH YOU with SHELBY LYNNE
9. WHEN THE GRASS GROWS OVER ME with MARK CHESNUTT
10. I ALWAYS GET LUCKY WITH YOU with MARK KNOPFLER
11. YOU'RE STILL ON MY MIND with MARTY STUART
12. LOVIN' YOU, LOVIN' ME with TAMMY WYNETTE

I wish you all a blessed week!
~Percy

Ramblings...

Hello my friends...
Yes, I know it's been a while. I'm still alive and kicking! Just been a bit busy and as you regular visitors know my updates here usually are the first to suffer. I just noticed that this will be my 480th post to this BLOG... now that is unbelieveable. Your support through the years means more to me than you may ever realize.

Once again, I would like to tell you all how humbled I have been during this "Is He Alive" scenario on WWE television involving my "son" Kane. During the 30-days following the first broadcast of the angle, over 900,000 folks visited http://www.percypringle.com/ ! Notwithstanding the hundreds of emails. I thank you.

In all honesty, I have no intentions of returning to the road at this time. I have dedicated the past 2 years to my new business venture, and things are really going well for me. It would be insanity for me to put what I am doing on hold and go back to place I have already been for so many years. I will still NEVER say NEVER, but right now it is not going to happen. Sorry.

I missed so many of my two sons lives because of this industry of ours. Now they are grown men with daughters of their own, and do I treasure my time with them now? I don't think you have to ask that question. I still keep my finger on the pulse of the business, and I work local indy dates now and then. But now it is for the fun of it, I don't have to do it to pay the bills anymore. I have been so blessed with 30 years living my dreams, traveling around the world, and I have no one to thank but you folks that are reading this. There would have never been a me, without you.

Legendary ring veteran Walter "Killer" Kowalski (above) isn't feeling the best these days. Many of you know Walter is responsible for the careers of Joan "Chyna" Lauer, and Hunter Helmsley, as well as so many others including my dear friend of so many years "Playboy" Vince (Phil) Apollo. I understand that one thing that cheers "Killer" up these days is hearing from his old friends and fans. If you can, please take a moment to drop him a note or card at:

The photo below was taken at The CAC Banquet in Las Vegas, in 2005. Walter has dedicated so many years of his life to this business. Let's keep him in our thoughts and prayers.
Be Blessed.
